The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation

             The Constitution of India under “Directive Principles of State Policy” provides that the State shall within the limits of its economic capacity make effective provision for securing the right to work, to education and to public assistance in cases of unemployment, old – age, sickness & disablement and undeserved want. The EPF & MP act, 1952 was enacted by Parliament and came into force with effect from 14th March 1952. A series of legislative interventions were made in this direction, including the Employees’ Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. Presently the following three schemes are in operation under the Act:

Employees Provident Fund Scheme, 1952.

Employees Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976.

Employees Pension Scheme, 1995 (replacing the Employees’ Family Pension Scheme, 1971)

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation, India is one of the largest Providend Fund institutions in the world in terms of member and volume of financial transactions that it has been carrying on.

As the Information Technology has become the backbone of any organisation in providing up to date and quick services to its customers, EPFO has also taken it up as early as 1989. Since then there are lot of changes has taken place and now the whole pattern of computerisation has been re-designed under the programme – “Modernization Project”. This programme is under implementation in a big way, after last few years of extensive preparation. EPFO,Raipur has Gone Live” on 4thOctober 2010 and settlement of various claims and issuance of annual statement of A/cs is being done through New Application Software.

Office of Raipur was opened in February 1994 as SRO of MP Region. In August 2001 SRO Raipur was converted into Regional Office, Raipur after creation of Chhattisgarh Region. Region covers geographical area of 1,25,237 sq. km having 18 districts. Regional Office Raipur is having its own office building. There is one inspectorate headed by one EO at Bilaspur.
